The Friends of Presqu’ile Park honoured Phil McRae with a Life Membership Award at their recent Annual General Meeting.
Life Memberships are granted to individuals who have demonstrated significant, sustained, and high-quality volunteer service over a period of years. Life Members reflect extraordinary dedication to the values of the Friends.
Phil McRae has served on the Board of Directors for nine years – and counting. He has ably served as the liaison between the park’s biology team and the volunteers – ensuring we have the right resources – financial and human – to carry out critical environmental initiatives. He has spearheaded the Memorial Tree Planting Program since its inception, allowing for the planting of hundreds of trees and thousands of dollars in donations. In addition, he manages the annual Bursary Program that recognizes some of our shining seasonal workers.
During a difficult period during COVID, Phil stepped into the roles of the Chair, managing restrictions, resignations, and loss of fundraising programs. Although he claimed to be the “reluctant Chair”, his steady hand kept things afloat during a very challenging time.
Thank you, Phil, for your dedication.
