Weather conditions have not been conducive to a major push of spring migrants at Presqu'ile Provincial Park, but new arrivals in small numbers are occurring on most days.

There are still a few CANVASBACKS and plenty of REDHEADS, RING-NECKED DUCKS, and SCAUP in Presqu'ile Bay.  No one has yet spotted a RUDDY DUCK.  Seven WILD TURKEYS marched single file down Bayshore Road near the lighthouse, to the astonishment of a local homeowner.  An early GREAT EGRET was photographed on April 1.  The first BONAPARTE'S GULL of the season flew past on Sunday.  A SNOWY OWL was just outside the Park gate on April 1.  A MERLIN was near the lighthouse on Tuesday.  Two COMMON RAVENS were present on Sunday.  An early RUBY-CROWNED KINGLET was also seen on Sunday.  Two small groups of FIELD SPARROWS were also seen on that day.  An anonymous report of a PINE GROSBEAK on April 1 has raised some eyebrows, both because the species has been totally absent from Presqu'ile (as well as from most of southern Ontario) all winter and because the date is very late for that species.

Locations within the Park are shown on a map at the back of a tabloid that is available at the Park gate. Access to the offshore islands is restricted from March 10 onward to prevent disturbance to the colonial nesting birds there. 
Birders are encouraged to record their observations on the bird sightings board provided near the campground office by The Friends of Presqu'ile Park and to fill out a rare bird report for species not listed there.
