OVERVIEW: As a consequence of the lock down and perhaps a general winter malaise, there was almost no birding taking place in Presqu’ile this week so consequently there is very little to report.

TRUMPETER SWAN – 3 were seen on 20 Jan.

LESSER SCAUP – 2 were still present on 20 Jan.

WHITE-WINGED SCOTER – Ironically numbers rose this week with a high of 16 on 17 Jan.

BALD EAGLE – several birds were seen through the week, usually on the ice of Presqu’ile Bay.

COOPER’S HAWK – there were several sightings through the week – a regular visitor to bird feeders along Bayshore Rd.

ROUGH-LEGGED HAWK – 1 on 17 Jan was the only report.

ICELAND GULL – 1 was seen on 19 Jan.

COMMON REDPOLL – seen through the week with 65 on 15 Jan being the high count.

HOARY REDPOLL – one with a flock of Common’s on 15 Jan was the only report of this rarity.

RED-WINGED BLACKBIRD - 1 at Camp Office feeder on 21 Jan.

Directions: Presqu’ile Provincial Park is located south of Brighton on the north shore of Lake Ontario.  It is well signed from either Hwy. 401 or Cty. Rd. 2.
