Monarchs and Migrants Weekend
August 31st and September 1st, 2024
Join Presqu’ile Provincial Park staff and volunteers on Labour Day weekend for Monarchs and Migrants Weekend. This is an excellent opportunity to learn about the fall migration of birds, butterflies, and insects.
On Saturday afternoon, join special guest Don Davis to watch live Monarch Butterfly tagging and to learn more about these fascinating insects and their annual migration. Presqu’ile Park can be a great spot to see migrating Monarch Butterflies during the first two weeks of September.
There will also be a Children’s Program at the Nature Centre, as well as guided walks on Owen Point Trail. The Nature Centre, Lighthouse Interpretive Centre and Friends of Presqu’ile Gift Shop will all be open from 10am – 4pm. Join us for the final Friends of Presqu’ile Fundraising Barbecue for the season at the Amphitheatre on Saturday between 11:30am and 1pm.
A detailed schedule of events and demonstrations will be posted on social media and around the park. Check the Calendar of Events on the Friends’ website for details (www.friendsofpresquile.on.ca.).
To guarantee entry into the park visitors are encouraged to make a daily vehicle reservation up to 5 days in advance by visiting https://reservations.ontarioparks.ca/
