Brighton
and
Presqu'ile
for
Kids
history
activity
handbook
is
here!
Long
ago
there
were
plans
to
build
a major
town
on
the
Presqu'ile
peninsula.
The
sinking
of
the
HMS
Speedy
in
1804
brought
an
end
to
those
plans.
To
commemorate
this
event
and
recognize
the
rich
history
of
the
Brighton
area,
the
Remembering
Speedy
Committee
presents
a new
activity
book
designed
to
help
kids
and
their
families
explore
how
this
area
has
changed
over
the
last
200
years.
Inside
the
activity
book
are
20
pages
of
information
and
activities
that
will
guide
kids
through
three
time
periods,
covering
the
areas
history
from
1796
to
1920.
Simon
the
Sailor
will
lead
kids
through
things
to
read,
see
and
do
to
help
them
become
a Presqu'ile
History
Explorer.
Children
can
use
the
book
on
their
own
but
it
can
also
be
fun
for
the
whole
family.
After
completing
a level,
kids
can
bring
the
workbook
to
the
Presqu'ile
Provincial
Park
Lighthouse
Interpretive
Centre,
where
they
will
receive
a stamp
on
their
History
Explorer
Certificate.
Brighton
and
Presqu'ile
for
Kids
can
be
purchased
for
$2.50
at
the
Presqu'ile
Lighthouse
Interpretive
Centre,
Proctor
House,
Memory
Junction
and
Lighthouse
Books
in
Brighton.
